Edwin Stuart Booth
Ed Booth joined Shuttleworth, Ruloff, Swain, Haddad and Morecock in October of 2010 following employment as a Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach. While he was a prosecutor, Mr. Booth handled many types of felony cases, from drug possession and distribution to violent crimes such as robbery, malicious wounding, and murder, and gained the unique and valuable courtroom experience that comes through service as a prosecutor.
Mr. Booth now focuses his practice on personal injury, criminal defense, and civil litigation. He believes that successful relationships between an attorney and client depend on communication and preparation. Navigating the legal system can be extremely confusing and intimidating, and people need to be able to contact their lawyer. Every client’s phone calls and emails will be returned. You will understand what is happening with your case and why. You will understand the choices you have in a case, and what those choices can mean.
Sometimes those choices involve a settlement or plea agreement. It is an indisputable fact that most cases, both criminal and civil, are resolved by an agreement – and there are many good reasons why this is true. It is also a fact that some cases simply need to be tried. Mr. Booth has tried criminal cases before juries in both Virginia Circuit Court and United States District Court, and is capable of taking your case to trial before a judge or a jury. He believes that solid preparation and an assumption that a case will go to trial is the best way to obtain a favorable outcome for his clients.
